On September 29, 2022, Bernama reported that the public in Ipoh can participate in an e-waste collection initiative with a lucky draw offering prizes up to RM33,000 in cash. Mayor Datuk Rumaizi Baharin announced that this effort is part of the National Environment Day 2022 celebrations, aiming to promote the 'Perak Bumi Lestari' agenda. Collection activities take place every third Saturday and Sunday from May 21 to November 30 at selected locations. Participants can exchange items like laptops, refrigerators, and air conditioners for cash, while used lamps and batteries are excluded. The initiative, in collaboration with Edsha Solutions Sdn Bhd, offers a RM10,000 lucky draw for participants, in addition to other cash incentives. As of September 27, 87 metric tonnes of e-waste have been collected, with a target of 100 metric tonnes by November 30.
