On September 25, 2022, Astro Awani reported on e-waste collection initiative at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Raja Perempuan (RPS) Ipoh, where over 300 students and teachers gathered 421 kilograms of electronic waste for recycling. The initiative, part of the Eco World Project, aims to promote environmental sustainability and educate students on proper e-waste disposal. Prof Dr. Richard Ng announced that the collected e-waste will be sold to Edsha Solutions Sdn Bhd, a licensed company under the Department of Environment. So far, the school has earned RM340 from this sale, with plans to use the proceeds to purchase a 60-inch smart TV for educational purposes. The program emphasizes the importance of recycling and encourages future collections to further engage students. Ng also highlighted the dangers of e-waste, underscoring the need for responsible disposal methods to protect the environment.
